Rakhi Shingala is a BC-DMT (Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist) and LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor). She completed her Master in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Columbia College Chicago. Rakhi also has a Masters in Counseling Psychology from SNDT University, Mumbai India.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Rakhi’s passion for dancing emerged through experiencing and witnessing Indian Classical as well as Bollywood dances. After moving to USA, Rakhi was introduced to dance therapy while working as a mental health counselor at an inpatient psychiatric facility in Chicago. She knew right away that “dance therapy” was her calling, integrating her passion of dance and movement in a clinical setting to utilize the mind body connection as a healing power truly resonated with her.
Rakhi has over 10 years of experience working as a dance/movement therapist. Her experience includes inpatient mental health hospital, out patient after care program, therapeutic day school and residential facility. Rakhi has worked with victims of abuse, sexual violence and domestic violence. She has worked with kids, adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorder, trauma, autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders.
